NO SESSO + Kelsey Lu
August 17, 2018
Friday Flights
Getty Museum, Los Angeles
As the Getty Museum celebrates 100 years of fashion photography in the current exhibition Icons of Style, L.A.-based fashion label NO SESSO points to the future century of fashion through their genderless and joyful approach to design, crafted under the vision of designer Pierre Davis. Celebrating NO SESSO as a rising name in fashion, The New York Times says the gender-neutral line is “challenging traditional ideas of dress,” noting “accessibility—especially for black, brown and transgender bodies that have historically been underrepresented in the fashion industry—is at the heart of Davis’s global vision for the brand, which she calls ‘a platform for other like-minded artists who just want to be seen or represented.’”
Debuting a special, site-specific presentation of looks in the courtyard, this innovative take on a fashion show will be paired with a live performance by Kelsey Lu, the critically acclaimed cellist and vocalist, one of the groundbreaking musicians whose support for the label has helped build its cult following.
